L.A. City Council Unanimously Approves Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles!
We are excited to announce that the L.A. City Council voted unanimously to approve the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles. This watershed moment in public health policy in Los Angeles was covered by the LA Times. We were truly honored to be joined at the hearing by key leaders from our two funding organizations: Dr. Robert Ross, President of The California Endowment, and Dr. Paul Simon and Jean Armbruster from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Council approval marks the end of a 2-year planning process that involved the support and collaboration of community advocates, government leaders, public health experts, and thousands of Angelenos. We are especially grateful for the time and support contributed by the Expert Panel, the Community Advisory Board, and the Technical Advisory Board. Moreover, Council approval signifies the beginning of the Plan’s implementation phase. The Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles team and City staff will continue to work together on implementing policies to help support existing programs and promote new programs for improving health for all Angelenos.
