Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles heads to Planning Commission on Aug. 14
The Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles is scheduled for review by the Planning Commission on Aug. 14. Please join us that day to support the adoption of a new vision for a healthier Los Angeles. A copy of the draft that will be reviewed by the Planning Commission is available here.
The draft Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles includes changes that were made based on the feedback received during the 90-day public comment period that ended on May 13. Amendments to the original draft include the addition of a new goal called Los Angeles, medical a Leader in Health and Equity, which calls on the city to be a leader in efforts to improve health outcomes and eliminate health disparities.
The public hearing is scheduled on the same day as the Commission’s Equity Day, which will be a discussion about how to embed equity in policies and practices to promote growth. The conversation is a perfect introduction to the afternoon’s hearing on the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles, which promotes equity through a health lens as part of its guiding principles. Community residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend the hearing of the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles as champions of health, which will take place at Los Angeles City Hall.
Equity Day starts at 8:30 a.m., which features a keynote speech by Manuel Pastor, director for the Program on Environmental and Regional Equity at the University of Southern California and a member of the Plan’s Expert Panel. The hearing for the Plan for a Healthy Los Angeles is scheduled for the afternoon session of the Planning Commission, following the Equity Day events.
